Ft Dual Action Coupons & Savings Card – Discount Prices from $8.25

This medication is a combination of ibuprofen and acetaminophen, designed to alleviate pain from conditions like headaches, dental discomfort, menstrual cramps, muscle pain, or arthritis. Ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), works by inhibiting the production of certain natural substances in the body that lead to inflammation, thereby reducing swelling, pain, and fever. For chronic conditions such as arthritis, it is advisable to consult your doctor about non-drug therapies or other medications that may be more suitable for managing your pain. Always check the product label, as ingredients may change, and products with similar names could serve different purposes. Using an incorrect product could be harmful.

Ft Dual Action Warnings

Please be aware of the following important safety information and warnings regarding the use of this medication, which contains nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen, and acetaminophen:

  • Heart and Stroke Risk: NSAIDs can occasionally increase the likelihood of heart attack or stroke. This risk is present regardless of when you start taking the drug but is heightened with prolonged use, in older individuals, or those with pre-existing heart disease or risk factors such as smoking, family history, high blood pressure, or diabetes. It is crucial not to take this medication immediately before or after undergoing heart bypass surgery (CABG).

  • Liver Concerns with Acetaminophen: Excessive intake of acetaminophen can lead to severe, potentially life-threatening liver damage. Adults should not exceed 4000 milligrams (4 grams) per day. Individuals with liver conditions and children should use a lower dosage. Consult with your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate amount for you.

  • Medication Interactions: Avoid using this product with other medications containing acetaminophen without consulting your healthcare provider. Many over-the-counter and prescription medications, such as those for pain, fever, or cold symptoms, may contain acetaminophen. Always check medication labels or ask your pharmacist if uncertain.

  • Overdose Actions: If an overdose of acetaminophen occurs, seek immediate medical assistance, even if you feel fine. Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, sweating, abdominal pain, fatigue, yellowing of the eyes/skin, and dark urine.

  • Alcohol and Smoking: Regular alcohol consumption, particularly with this medication, can harm your liver. Alcohol and tobacco use may also increase the risk of stomach bleeding. It is advisable to avoid alcohol and quit smoking.

  • Gastrointestinal Bleeding: This drug may rarely cause severe, potentially fatal bleeding in the stomach or intestines, which can occur suddenly without warning. Older adults are more susceptible. If you experience persistent abdominal pain, black/tarry stools, or vomit resembling coffee grounds, discontinue use and seek medical help immediately.

  • Serious Side Effects: Stop taking the medication and seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of the following severe symptoms: persistent stomach/abdominal pain, black/tarry stools, coffee ground-like vomit, chest, jaw, or left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, confusion, sudden weakness on one side of the body, trouble speaking, or sudden changes in vision.

It is essential to discuss the benefits and risks of using this medication with your healthcare provider to ensure it is safe for your specific health needs.

Ft Dual Action Side Effects

When taking this medication, you may experience mild side effects such as upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, or drowsiness. These are common and often temporary, but if they persist or worsen, inform your healthcare provider. Additionally, this medication can lead to an increase in blood pressure, so it is advisable to monitor it regularly and report any high readings to your healthcare professional.

There are more serious side effects that require prompt medical attention. These include unusual bruising or bleeding, changes in hearing like ringing in the ears, difficulty or pain when swallowing, mental or mood changes, vision problems, or an unexplained stiff neck. Signs of kidney issues, such as changes in urine output, and symptoms of heart failure, like swelling in the ankles or feet, unusual tiredness, or sudden weight gain, also warrant immediate consultation with a healthcare provider.

Although rare, this medication can cause severe liver damage, which could be life-threatening. Seek emergency medical help if you experience persistent nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin, or dark urine, as these might be signs of liver injury. In extremely rare cases, severe allergic reactions can occur, presenting symptoms like fever, swollen lymph nodes, rash, itching or swelling, especially of the face, tongue, or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Immediate medical intervention is crucial in these instances. Always communicate with your healthcare provider about any unexpected side effects you experience.

Ft Dual Action Interactions

This medication may interact with several other drugs. These include Aliskiren, ACE inhibitors like Captopril and Lisinopril, angiotensin II receptor blockers such as Losartan and Valsartan, Cidofovir, corticosteroids like Prednisone, Ketoconazole, levoketoconazole, Lithium, Methotrexate, and diuretics like Furosemide. Additionally, combining this drug with others that increase bleeding risk, such as anti-platelet drugs like Clopidogrel and blood thinners like Dabigatran, Enoxaparin, and Warfarin, may heighten the bleeding risk.

Be aware that many medications, both prescription and nonprescription, may contain pain relievers or fever reducers similar to ibuprofen, such as Aspirin or NSAIDs like Celecoxib, Ketorolac, or Naproxen, which could increase the risk of side effects when taken together. If your doctor has advised you to take low-dose aspirin to prevent heart attack or stroke (typically 81-162 milligrams daily), continue doing so unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Note that regular use of ibuprofen may reduce aspirin's effectiveness in preventing heart attacks or strokes. Discuss with your healthcare provider about using an alternative like Acetaminophen for pain or fever. If ibuprofen is necessary, consult your doctor about using immediate-release aspirin instead of enteric-coated aspirin while taking other medications. If you need to take both aspirin and this medication, take this drug at least 8 hours before or 2 hours after your aspirin dose. Do not alter your aspirin dosage or change how you take it without your doctor's guidance.

This medication can also affect certain laboratory tests, potentially causing incorrect results. Ensure that all healthcare providers and lab personnel are aware that you are taking this medication.
