Icatibant Warnings
This medication carries significant safety information that you should be aware of. It is crucial to understand the potential risks and necessary precautions associated with its use. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with your healthcare provider.
Swelling of the Throat During HAE Attack: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks can result in the swelling of the throat, posing a serious threat to breathing and can be fatal. While icatibant (Firazyr) is administered to manage sudden HAE attacks, it is essential to seek immediate emergency medical assistance if you experience breathing difficulties or sense swelling in your throat.
Contraindications: There are no specific contraindications reported for this medication. However, always consult with your healthcare provider to ensure it is safe for your use.
This information is vital for ensuring your safety and should be reviewed thoroughly.

Icatibant Interactions
When using icatibant, it's important to be aware of potential interactions with other medications:
Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors: Medications such as Lisinopril, Enalapril, and Captopril are commonly prescribed for high blood pressure and heart failure. Combining these with icatibant may reduce the effectiveness of both drugs. Additionally, ACE inhibitors can increase the risk of angioedema (swelling), which is particularly concerning for individuals with hereditary angioedema. Therefore, it's generally recommended to avoid using ACE inhibitors alongside icatibant.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): Common pain relievers like Ibuprofen and Naproxen may increase the risk of kidney damage when taken with icatibant, especially in individuals with existing kidney conditions.
Immunosuppressants: Drugs such as Cyclosporine and Tacrolimus, which suppress the immune system, may heighten the risk of infections or other complications when used concurrently with icatibant.
It's crucial to inform your healthcare provider about all medications, supplements, and herbal products you are currently taking before starting icatibant. This ensures that potential interactions are identified and managed appropriately.
