Tremfya One-press Warnings
When using the TREMFYA One-Press injector, it's important to be aware of certain safety considerations:
Serious Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may experience severe allergic reactions to TREMFYA. Symptoms can include fainting, dizziness, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, skin rash, hives, or itching. If you notice any of these signs, stop using TREMFYA immediately and seek emergency medical attention. Do not use TREMFYA if you've had a serious allergic reaction to guselkumab or any of its ingredients.
Infections: TREMFYA can lower your immune system's ability to fight infections, potentially increasing your risk. Before starting treatment, your healthcare provider should check for infections and tuberculosis (TB). If you have a history of TB or active TB, your provider may treat you for TB before beginning TREMFYA. During and after treatment, watch for signs of infection such as fever, chills, muscle aches, weight loss, cough, skin sores, diarrhea, stomach pain, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, or burning during urination. Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
Tuberculosis (TB): It's essential to evaluate for TB infection before starting TREMFYA. If you have latent TB, treatment should begin prior to using TREMFYA. Monitor for signs of active TB during and after treatment, and do not use TREMFYA if you have active TB.
Vaccinations: Complete all age-appropriate vaccinations before initiating TREMFYA. Avoid live vaccines during treatment.
Liver Problems: For conditions like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, your healthcare provider will perform blood tests to monitor your liver before and during TREMFYA treatment. If liver issues develop, treatment may be stopped. Report symptoms such as unexplained rash, vomiting, fatigue, yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, or dark urine to your provider promptly.
Storage and Handling: Store the TREMFYA One-Press injector in the refrigerator between 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze or shake the injector. Keep it in the original carton to protect from light and physical damage, and out of reach of children.
Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice and to address any concerns regarding TREMFYA treatment.
Tremfya One-press Side Effects
When using this medication, some common side effects may include bruising, redness, itching, pain, or swelling at the injection site. These effects are typically mild, but if they persist or worsen, it is important to inform your healthcare provider. While many individuals do not experience serious side effects, it is crucial to be aware of potential severe reactions. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include signs of liver disease, such as persistent nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach or abdominal pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin, and dark urine. Additionally, this medication can impair your immune system, increasing the risk of serious infections. Look out for signs of infection like a persistent sore throat, fever, or chills. Although rare, a severe allergic reaction to this medication can occur. Symptoms to watch for include a rash, itching or swelling (especially on the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek emergency medical assistance immediately. This summary does not cover all possible side effects, so contact your healthcare provider if you notice any other unusual symptoms.
Tremfya One-press Interactions
When using the Tremfya One-Press injector, it's important to be aware of potential interactions with other medications and vaccines. TREMFYA (guselkumab) may influence the activity of certain liver enzymes known as cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes. These enzymes are responsible for metabolizing various drugs in the body. While studies suggest that TREMFYA has a low potential for clinically significant interactions with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP1A2 enzymes, the effect on drugs processed by the CYP2D6 enzyme remains uncertain. Therefore, if you're taking medications that are metabolized by CYP2D6, such as certain antidepressants or heart medications, your healthcare provider may monitor your therapy more closely and adjust dosages as necessary.
Additionally, it's recommended to avoid live vaccines during treatment with TREMFYA. Live vaccines contain weakened forms of viruses or bacteria and may not be as effective or could pose risks when your immune system is modulated by medications like TREMFYA. Before starting TREMFYA, ensure that all your vaccinations are up to date. If you require any vaccinations during treatment, discuss with your healthcare provider to determine the safest options.
Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications, supplements, and vaccines you are currently using or plan to use. This will help them manage potential interactions and ensure your treatment plan is both safe and effective.
