Econazole Coupons & Savings Card – Discount Prices from $7.53

Generic for: Ecoza

Econazole is a prescription antifungal medication designed to treat various fungal skin infections, including athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and tinea versicolor. This treatment is particularly effective for addressing yeast infections on the skin. Available as a topical cream, Econazole is applied directly to the skin, typically once or twice daily for a duration of 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the specific infection. For athlete's foot between the toes, a foam formulation branded as Ecoza is available for individuals aged 12 and older. The primary mechanism of action for Econazole is to disrupt the protective membrane of the fungus, thereby inhibiting its growth and ultimately eliminating the infection. Most users experience minimal to no side effects, though mild skin irritation is possible. Always consult with a healthcare professional before using Econazole or any medication to ensure it is safe and effective for your particular condition.

Econazole Warnings

This document outlines important safety information and warnings for the use of econazole. Please read the following points carefully and consult your healthcare provider if you have any concerns or questions.

  • Topical Use Only: Econazole should be applied solely to the skin's surface. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, ears, or vagina, as this may cause irritation or harm. In the event of accidental ingestion by you or your child, immediately contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

  • Allergic Reactions: Although uncommon, econazole may cause skin irritation, such as rash, burning, or stinging. If these symptoms occur and are severe, discontinue use and contact your healthcare provider promptly.

  • Flammable Substance (Ecoza Foam): The foam form of econazole, Ecoza, is flammable. Avoid open flames and smoking during and immediately after application. Store the foam canister in a cool, dry location away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Do not puncture or incinerate the can, even if empty, as it is pressurized and may explode.

There are currently no known contraindications for the use of econazole. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions and guidelines when using this medication.

Econazole Interactions

Econazole is a topical antifungal medication used to treat various skin infections. While it is generally safe for most individuals, certain interactions can occur, particularly with the anticoagulant medication Warfarin.

When econazole is applied to large areas of the body, the genital region, or under occlusive dressings, its absorption into the bloodstream may increase. This heightened absorption can enhance the effects of warfarin, leading to an increased risk of bleeding. Therefore, if you are using warfarin and need to apply econazole extensively or in sensitive areas, it is important to inform your healthcare provider. They may recommend more frequent monitoring of your International Normalized Ratio (INR) or prothrombin time to ensure your blood's clotting ability remains within a safe range.

Additionally, in vitro studies have shown that corticosteroids can inhibit the antifungal activity of econazole against Candida albicans in a concentration-dependent manner. When the concentration of the corticosteroid is equal to or greater than that of econazole, the antifungal activity of econazole is substantially inhibited. Therefore, concurrent use of corticosteroids and econazole may reduce the effectiveness of the antifungal treatment.

To minimize potential interactions, always use econazole as directed and consult your healthcare provider before combining it with other medications, especially if you are using anticoagulants like warfarin or corticosteroids.
