This product is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 3 medications: lactic acid, citric acid, and potassium bitartrate. It works mainly by lowering the acid-base balance (pH) of the vagina which prevents the sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization). This product does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, syphilis). Using an effective barrier method (latex or polyurethane condom/dental dams) during sexual activity will help to decrease your risk of infection. This product must be used within 1 hour before vaginal intercourse to work well. It will not work if it is used after vaginal intercourse.
