Pred Forte Side Effects

Rarely, stinging/burning of the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes may occur when you apply this medication. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Use of this medication for prolonged periods or in high doses may cause serious eye problems (such as high pressure inside the eyes and cataracts). Tell your doctor right away if any of these serious side effects occur: vision problems, eye pain. This medication may mask the signs of an eye infection. It may also put you at greater risk of developing an eye infection, especially with prolonged use. Report any new or worsening symptoms such as eye discharge/swelling/redness, vision problems, or no improvement of your current eye condition. Your doctor will need to adjust your treatment. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: headache, dizziness. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Pred Forte FAQs
What is Pred Forte used for?

Pred Forte is an ophthalmic medication used to treat inflammation in the eyes. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as uveitis, conjunctivitis, and post-operative inflammation following eye surgery. It contains prednisolone acetate, a corticosteroid that helps reduce swelling, redness, and irritation in the eyes.

Pred Forte and prednisone are not the same, although they are both corticosteroids. Pred Forte is an ophthalmic suspension containing prednisolone acetate, used primarily for treating inflammation in the eyes. Prednisone, on the other hand, is an oral medication used to treat a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions throughout the body.

Pred Forte is used after cataract surgery to reduce inflammation. It is a corticosteroid eye drop that helps to minimize swelling, redness, and discomfort in the eye, promoting healing and improving the overall recovery process.

Prolonged use of steroid eye drops can lead to several potential side effects. These may include increased intraocular pressure, which can result in glaucoma, cataract formation, and an increased risk of eye infections. Additionally, long-term use can cause thinning of the cornea or sclera. It is important for individuals using steroid eye drops to be monitored regularly by an eye care professional to manage these risks.

A substitute for Pred Forte, which is a corticosteroid eye drop, could be other corticosteroid eye drops such as Lotemax (loteprednol) or Durezol (difluprednate). However, it is important for the individual to consult with an eye care professional before making any changes to their medication, as the choice of substitute may depend on the specific condition being treated and the patient's medical history.
