Prenaissance Plus Warnings
Please review the following safety information carefully, as it outlines potential risks and precautions associated with the use of this medication. It is important to discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider.
Iron Overdose: Prenatal vitamins with DHA often contain iron, also found in many over-the-counter products. Excessive iron intake can lead to serious side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and intestinal damage. Inform your healthcare provider or pharmacist about all medications and supplements you are currently taking to ensure you do not consume too much iron.
Potential Masking of Anemia: These vitamins also contain folic acid, which can sometimes conceal symptoms of pernicious anemia, a condition caused by low vitamin B12 levels. If you have a history of low vitamin B12, please inform your healthcare provider.
Increased Bleeding Risk: Omega-3 fatty acids present in these vitamins may increase bleeding risk. If you are using blood thinners like aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), or warfarin (Coumadin), or have a history of bleeding disorders, consult your healthcare provider. They may recommend more frequent monitoring. Seek medical attention if you notice a bleeding issue that is hard to control or experience dark or tarry stools.
Fish Allergy: These vitamins contain fatty acids derived from various fish and shellfish oils. If you have a fish or shellfish allergy, discuss this with your healthcare provider or pharmacist. Seek immediate medical help if you develop a rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Contraindications: This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions, as it could pose serious health risks. Consult your healthcare provider if any of the following apply to you:
- Wilson's disease
- Hemochromatosis
Always ensure you communicate openly with your healthcare provider to manage your health effectively while using this medication.
