Alli Coupons & Discount Card - Compare Prices Near You

This medication is used with a doctor-approved exercise, behavior change, and reduced-calorie diet program to help you lose weight. It is used by certain overweight people, such as those who are obese or have weight-related medical problems. Taking orlistat can also help keep you from gaining back weight you have lost. Losing weight and keeping it off can lessen the many health risks that come with obesity, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a shorter life. Dietary fats need to be broken down into smaller pieces before the body can absorb them. Orlistat works by blocking the enzyme that breaks down fats in your diet. This undigested fat then passes out of your body in your bowel movement. Orlistat does not block the absorption of calories from sugar and other non-fat foods, so you still need to restrict your total intake of calories.

Alli Side Effects

When taking this medication, you might experience changes in bowel habits due to unabsorbed fat, leading to symptoms such as fatty or oily stools, oily spotting, gas with discharge, an urgent need to have a bowel movement, more frequent bowel movements, or difficulty controlling them. These effects may intensify if you consume more fat than recommended. If these symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to seek medical advice.

While serious side effects are uncommon, you should immediately stop taking the medication and consult your healthcare provider if you experience signs of liver issues, such as persistent nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the eyes or skin. Also, be alert for symptoms of kidney stones, including back pain, painful urination, or pink or bloody urine.

Although a severe allergic reaction is rare, it is crucial to seek emergency medical attention if you notice symptoms like rash, itching, swelling (particularly of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing. If you encounter any other side effects not mentioned here, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.

Interactions

Certain medications can interact with this drug, including blood thinners like warfarin, and HIV treatments such as atazanavir, efavirenz, emtricitabine, lopinavir, and tenofovir. Additionally, ritonavir and triheptanoin may also have interactions. If you are on seizure medications, be aware that orlistat might reduce their effectiveness. If you notice an increase in seizure frequency or severity, discontinue orlistat and consult your doctor immediately.
