Bicillin L-a Side Effects
Some common side effects of this medication include pain at the injection site, nausea, and vomiting. These are generally mild and often resolve on their own. However, if they persist or worsen, it’s important to consult your healthcare provider.
On rare occasions, this medication can cause serious side effects like joint or muscle pain, vision changes, signs of new infections such as a persistent sore throat, fever, chills, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual tiredness, and mental or mood changes such as confusion, hallucinations, depression, or agitation. If you experience any of these, seek medical attention promptly.
A rare yet severe intestinal condition, associated with C. difficile bacteria, might occur during or after treatment. Symptoms include persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, or bloody stools. Avoid anti-diarrhea or opioid products in this situation, as they can worsen symptoms. Long-term use may lead to oral thrush or yeast infections, indicated by white patches in the mouth or changes in vaginal discharge.
When treating syphilis or certain infections, a reaction can occur, causing fever, chills, headache, or joint pain soon after starting the medication. Report these symptoms to your healthcare provider if they arise.
Serious reactions needing immediate medical help include severe pain, swelling, or changes in skin color at the injection site, muscle cramps, paralysis, chest pain, swollen lymph nodes, severe abdominal pain, persistent nausea or vomiting, yellowing of the skin or eyes, irregular heartbeat, seizures, dark urine, or signs of kidney issues.
Although rare, a severe allergic reaction may occur, characterized by rash, swelling of the face or throat, dizziness, and difficulty breathing. If you notice any symptoms not listed, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
