Dextromethorphan Hbr FAQs
What is dextromethorphan HBR used for?

Dextromethorphan HBr is used as a cough suppressant. It is commonly found in over-the-counter medications and helps relieve coughs caused by the common cold, flu, or other conditions. It works by affecting the signals in the brain that trigger the cough reflex.

Dextromethorphan HBr and promethazine DM are not the same. Dextromethorphan HBr is a cough suppressant, while promethazine DM is a combination medication that includes both promethazine, an antihistamine, and dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant. They are used to treat different symptoms and conditions.

A medicine similar to promethazine DM is dextromethorphan with another antihistamine, such as diphenhydramine. Both combinations are used to relieve symptoms of cough and cold. However, it is important to consult a healthcare provider before using any medication to ensure it is appropriate for the individual's specific condition.

Dextromethorphan HBr is not a narcotic. It is a cough suppressant commonly found in over-the-counter cold and cough medications.

Dextromethorphan is typically used for the relief of a dry cough. It acts as a cough suppressant by affecting the signals in the brain that trigger the cough reflex.
