Orphenadrine Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products that cause drowsiness such as opioid pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana (cannabis), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem), other muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine). Check the labels on all your medicines (such as allergy or cough-and-cold products) because they may contain ingredients that cause drowsiness. Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.
Orphenadrine FAQs
Is orphenadrine a strong muscle relaxer?

Orphenadrine is considered a moderate muscle relaxant. It is often used to relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries. While effective for some individuals, its strength and effectiveness can vary from person to person.

Orphenadrine was not universally discontinued, but its availability may vary by region or manufacturer. Discontinuation in certain areas could be due to factors such as market demand, availability of alternative treatments, or regulatory decisions. It is important for patients to consult with their healthcare provider for alternatives if orphenadrine is not available in their area.

Orphenadrine can have anticholinergic effects, which may influence the heart by causing an increase in heart rate (tachycardia). It can also potentially lead to palpitations or arrhythmias in some individuals. Patients with pre-existing heart conditions should use orphenadrine with caution and under medical supervision.

Orphenadrine is not banned in the USA. It is available by prescription and is commonly used as a muscle relaxant to relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries.

Drugs similar to orphenadrine, which is a muscle relaxant, include cyclobenzaprine, methocarbamol, and carisoprodol. These medications are also used to relieve muscle spasms and discomfort associated with musculoskeletal conditions.
