Salbutamol, also referred to as albuterol, is utilized for the prevention and treatment of breathing difficulties such as wheezing and shortness of breath caused by conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Additionally, it can be used to prevent exercise-induced asthma. This medication belongs to a group of drugs called bronchodilators, which work by relaxing the muscles surrounding the airways. As a result, the airways open up and breathing becomes easier. By effectively managing symptoms associated with breathing problems, individuals can reduce their time away from work or school commitments. Salbutamol is classified as a quick-relief medication that provides prompt relief from respiratory distress.
