Limbrel was a prescription medical food developed for managing osteoarthritis by targeting the metabolic processes associated with the disease. In November 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received reports linking Limbrel to serious adverse events, including drug-induced liver injury and hypersensitivity pneumonitis, a condition causing lung inflammation. Consequently, in January 2018, the FDA requested a voluntary recall of all unexpired Limbrel products. Patients who were using Limbrel were advised to discontinue its use and consult their healthcare providers. As of July 2025, Limbrel remains unavailable in the United States.
