Neo-Polycin is an ointment designed to treat bacterial infections in the eyes, such as pink eye and eyelid infections. It combines three antibiotics: bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B, which work together to stop bacterial growth. This medication is effective against specific bacterial infections, including conjunctivitis (pink eye), keratitis (cornea inflammation), blepharitis (eyelid inflammation), and blepharoconjunctivitis (inflammation of both the eyelids and conjunctiva). It is important to note that Neo-Polycin will not treat infections caused by viruses, fungi, or mycobacteria. The recommended application is a small amount of ointment to the affected eye(s) every 3 to 4 hours for a period of 7 to 10 days. While generally well-tolerated, some users might experience mild eye irritation. Unnecessary or incorrect use of this antibiotic can reduce its effectiveness.
