Xalatan Side Effects
When using this medication, you might experience some common minor side effects such as blurred vision, a sensation of burning, stinging, itching, or redness in the eye, or a feeling that something is in your eye. You might also notice changes in your eyelashes, such as alterations in their number, color, length, or thickness, or changes to your eyelids, such as skin darkening. Other mild effects include dry eyes, eyelid crusting or discomfort, and increased sensitivity to light. These effects are usually manageable, but if they persist or worsen, consult your healthcare provider.
Over time, this medication may cause a gradual brown discoloration of the iris, the colored part of your eye. This change might be permanent and is more noticeable if only one eye is treated. Regular eye exams are recommended to monitor this effect.
Serious side effects are uncommon but require immediate medical attention. Seek help if you experience eye pain, signs of an eye infection like unusual redness or swelling, or rapid changes in vision, such as sudden vision loss. Although rare, an allergic reaction can occur. Symptoms include rash, severe itching or swelling (particularly of the face, tongue, or throat), dizziness, or difficulty breathing. If you notice these, seek emergency medical help.
This summary includes common side effects and important reactions to be aware of. If you experience any other unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
