triprolidine
Triprolidine is an antihistamine designed to alleviate symptoms associated with allergies, hay fever, and the common cold, such as rash, watery and itchy eyes, itchy nose and throat, coughing, runny nose, and sneezing. The medication functions by blocking histamine, a natural substance produced during allergic reactions, and also reduces certain body fluids by blocking acetylcholine, thereby helping to relieve watery eyes and runny nose. It is important to note that cough-and-cold products are not proven safe or effective for children under 6 years old, and this medication should only be used for such individuals if explicitly instructed by a healthcare provider. Long-acting forms of this medication are typically not recommended for children under 12 years old. Triprolidine does not cure or reduce the duration of the common cold and may cause significant side effects. To minimize risks, strictly adhere to the dosage instructions and avoid using this product to induce sleep in children. Additionally, do not combine with other cough-and-cold medications that might contain similar ingredients. For alternative methods to relieve cough and cold symptoms, consult with a healthcare professional, and consider options like staying hydrated, using a humidifier, or applying saline nose drops or spray.

M-hist Pd Side Effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, stomach upset, blurred vision, decreased coordination, and dry mouth/nose/throat may occur. These effects may decrease as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects last or get worse, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. To relieve dry mouth, suck (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute. Triprolidine can dry up and thicken mucus in your lungs, making it more difficult to breathe and clear your lungs. To help prevent this effect, drink plenty of fluids unless otherwise directed by your doctor. If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: mental/mood changes (such as hallucinations, irritability, nervousness), ringing in the ears, trouble urinating, easy bruising/bleeding, fast/irregular heartbeat, seizures. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. In the US - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or at www.fda.gov/medwatch.
