Mono-linyah Side Effects
When taking this medication, you might experience mild side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, bloating, breast tenderness, and swelling of the ankles or feet due to fluid retention. Some individuals may notice changes in weight, spotting between periods, or irregular menstrual cycles, particularly during the initial months. These effects are usually manageable, but if they persist or worsen, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional.
Monitoring your blood pressure is advised, as this drug may cause an increase. If you observe elevated readings, inform your healthcare provider. Although serious side effects are uncommon, be vigilant for any significant changes like breast lumps, mood alterations (including depression), severe abdominal pain, or unusual bleeding patterns. If you encounter dark urine or yellowing of the eyes or skin, seek medical attention promptly.
Rarely, this medication can lead to serious blood clot issues, which may result in heart attacks, strokes, or clots in the lungs or legs. Immediate medical help is crucial if you experience symptoms such as chest pain, confusion, sudden dizziness, calf pain or swelling, difficulty speaking, shortness of breath, severe headaches, unusual sweating, one-sided weakness, or sudden vision changes.
Allergic reactions to this medication are very rare but can be serious. Seek urgent medical care if you notice signs like rash, itching or swelling (particularly of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you experience any other unexpected effects, reach out to a healthcare provider for guidance.
Interactions
Certain medications can interact with this drug. These include aromatase inhibitors like anastrozole and exemestane, fezolinetant, ospemifene, tamoxifen, tizanidine, tranexamic acid, and specific combination treatments for chronic hepatitis C, such as ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir, with or without dasabuvir.
Some medications may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal birth control by lowering hormone levels in your body, increasing the risk of pregnancy. These include griseofulvin, modafinil, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin, rifabutin), ritonavir, St. John's wort, seizure medications (e.g., barbiturates, carbamazepine, felbamate, phenytoin, primidone, topiramate), and certain HIV medications (e.g., nelfinavir, nevirapine).
Inform your doctor if you begin any new medication and discuss whether you need to use an additional reliable form of birth control. Also, report any new spotting or breakthrough bleeding to your doctor, as these could indicate that your birth control is less effective.
This drug may affect certain laboratory tests, such as those measuring blood clotting factors and thyroid function, potentially leading to incorrect results. Ensure that all your healthcare providers and lab personnel are aware of your medication use.
