Hydralazine Side Effects

When starting this medication, you may experience mild side effects like headache, fast heartbeat, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or dizziness. These symptoms usually improve as your body adjusts. To minimize dizziness, rise slowly from sitting or lying down. Most people taking this medication do not experience serious side effects.

In rare instances, the drug may cause nerve issues such as numbness or tingling. If this occurs, consult your doctor, who might suggest a vitamin B6 supplement. Be vigilant for serious side effects, including severe fatigue, joint pain or swelling, a rash on the nose and cheeks, swollen glands, changes in urine, persistent sore throat, fever, chills, or easy bruising. These symptoms warrant immediate medical consultation.

Seek urgent medical attention for very serious side effects like chest pain, pain in the jaw or left arm, or any signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling (especially of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects; for any other unexpected symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

Interactions

This medication may interact with certain products, such as MAO inhibitors, including isocarboxazid, Linezolid, Metaxalone, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, Rasagiline, safinamide, Selegiline, and Tranylcypromine. These interactions can affect how your medication works or increase the risk of side effects. Additionally, some products can increase your heart rate or blood pressure or worsen heart failure. Be sure to discuss all the products you are taking with your pharmacist, especially cough-and-cold remedies, diet pills, or NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and Naproxen, to ensure safe usage.
