Beclomethasone Side Effects

Mild nosebleeds, nasal dryness/irritation, unpleasant taste/smell may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: pain/sores in the nose, loss of taste or smell, signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn't go away, white patches in your nose/back of your throat, fever, chills). Rarely, it is possible that corticosteroids given in the nose will be absorbed into the bloodstream. This can lead to side effects of too much corticosteroid. These side effects are more likely in children and people who use this medication for a long time and in high doses. Tell your doctor right away if any of the following side effects occur: unusual/extreme tiredness, weight loss, headache, swelling ankles/feet, increased thirst/urination, vision problems. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. In the US - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or at www.fda.gov/medwatch. In Canada - Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to Health Canada at 1-866-234-2345.
Beclomethasone FAQs
What is the drug beclomethasone used for?

Beclomethasone is used to prevent and control symptoms of asthma, such as wheezing and shortness of breath. It is also used to treat allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps. As an inhaled corticosteroid, it helps reduce inflammation in the airways, making breathing easier.

Qvar was not taken off the market; however, the manufacturer transitioned from Qvar to Qvar RediHaler. The change was made to improve the delivery system, as the RediHaler is a breath-actuated inhaler that does not require priming or shaking, making it easier for patients to use.

Betamethasone and beclomethasone are both corticosteroids, but they differ in their specific uses and formulations. Betamethasone is often used for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties in conditions such as skin disorders, allergic reactions, and certain autoimmune diseases. It can be administered in various forms, including topical creams, injections, and oral tablets.Beclomethasone, on the other hand, is primarily used as an inhaled medication for the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps reduce inflammation in the airways, improving breathing and preventing asthma attacks. It is also available as a nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. In summary, while both are corticosteroids, betamethasone is more versatile in its applications, whereas beclomethasone is mainly used for respiratory conditions.

QVAR was not taken off the market. However, the manufacturer transitioned from QVAR to QVAR RediHaler, which is a breath-actuated inhaler designed to be easier to use. This change may have led to some confusion, but QVAR RediHaler remains available for patients who need it.

Another name for beclomethasone is Qvar.
