Cialis Side Effects
Common side effects of this medication include headaches, upset stomach, back pain, muscle pain, stuffy nose, flushing, and dizziness. These effects are usually mild and temporary. To minimize dizziness, try standing up slowly from sitting or lying down. Many people using this medication experience no serious side effects.
However, if you have heart problems, be cautious during sexual activity, as it can put extra strain on your heart. Serious side effects such as severe dizziness, fainting, chest, jaw, or left arm pain, and nausea require immediate medical attention.
In rare cases, sudden vision loss, including permanent blindness (NAION), may occur. This risk is higher for individuals with heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, certain eye problems, high blood pressure, those over 50, or smokers. If you experience sudden vision loss, stop taking the medication and seek medical help immediately.
Another rare side effect is a sudden decrease or loss of hearing, sometimes accompanied by ringing in the ears and dizziness. If this happens, discontinue use and get medical help right away.
A very serious but rare side effect is a painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 or more hours, which requires urgent medical attention to prevent permanent damage. Severe allergic reactions are also rare, but symptoms like rash, itching, swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, severe dizziness, and trouble breathing need immediate medical care.
This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. If you observe any other unusual effects, consult your healthcare provider.
Interactions
Certain drugs can interact with tadalafil, including riociguat and vericiguat. Tadalafil may cause a significant decrease in blood pressure when combined with nitrates, which can result in dizziness, fainting, and in rare cases, a heart attack or stroke. Avoid using nitrates like Nitroglycerin or Isosorbide, or recreational drugs known as "poppers" that contain amyl or butyl nitrite, with tadalafil or within 48 hours of your last tadalafil dose.
If you are taking alpha blockers, such as Doxazosin or Tamsulosin, for an enlarged prostate or high blood pressure, tadalafil can further lower your blood pressure, causing dizziness or fainting. Your doctor might prescribe a lower dose of tadalafil or adjust your alpha blocker medication to reduce the risk of low blood pressure.
Additionally, some medications can affect how tadalafil is removed from your body, impacting its effectiveness. These include azole antifungals like Itraconazole and Ketoconazole, macrolide antibiotics such as Clarithromycin and Erythromycin, HIV protease inhibitors like Fosamprenavir, as well as Rifampin and Ritonavir, among others.
It's important not to take this medication with any other products containing tadalafil or similar drugs used for erectile dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension, such as Sildenafil or Vardenafil.
Can a guy still be hard after coming on Cialis?
Yes, it is possible for a man to maintain an erection after ejaculation when using Cialis. Cialis, or tadalafil, is a medication that helps increase blood flow to the penis, which can help maintain an erection. However, individual responses can vary, and factors such as dosage, overall health, and individual physiology can influence this effect.
Does Cialis have negative long-term effects?
Cialis, when used as prescribed, is generally considered safe for long-term use. However, like any medication, it may have potential side effects. Some individuals may experience headaches, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, flushing, or nasal congestion. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. In rare cases, long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as changes in vision or hearing, or an erection lasting more than four hours, which requires immediate medical attention. It is important for individuals to discuss their medical history and any concerns with their healthcare provider to ensure Cialis is safe for their long-term use. Regular follow-ups with a healthcare provider are recommended to monitor any potential adverse effects.
What does Cialis do to a man?
Cialis, also known by its generic name tadalafil, is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis, which helps achieve and maintain an erection when sexually aroused. Additionally, Cialis can be used to treat symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), such as difficulty in urination. It is important to note that sexual stimulation is required for Cialis to be effective in treating ED.
