This oral tablet can be taken on its own or alongside other medicines. Eplerenone functions by blocking the action of aldosterone, a hormone responsible for increasing blood pressure through the retention of sodium and water. By inhibiting aldosterone, the medication helps the body eliminate excess salt and water, thus reducing blood pressure levels.
