Taclonex, which contains the active ingredients calcipotriene and betamethasone, is a medication designed to treat plaque psoriasis in adults and children aged 12 and older. This combination treatment consists of betamethasone, a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching, and calcipotriene, a Vitamin D derivative that slows down the excessive growth of skin cells, preventing the formation of thick, scaly patches. Available in both ointment and topical suspension forms, Taclonex can be applied once daily. The ointment is typically used for up to 4 weeks, while the suspension can be applied to the scalp and body for up to 8 weeks. Common side effects may include itching and a burning sensation at the application site. It is important not to use this product if you have certain types of psoriasis characterized by pus-filled blisters or widespread intense redness.
