Potential Blood Flow Issues: There is a slight chance that Alphagan P (brimonidine) may exacerbate conditions related to blood flow or reduce blood pressure. Individuals with pre-existing problems such as low blood flow to the brain or heart, Raynaud's phenomenon, orthostatic hypotension, blood vessel disorders, or significant heart conditions should consult their healthcare provider before using this medication.
Risk of Eye Infections: Alphagan P (brimonidine) usage can potentially lead to bacterial keratitis, an infection of the cornea, if the bottle becomes contaminated. To prevent contamination, always wash your hands prior to application and avoid contact between the dropper tip and your eye, hands, or any surfaces.
Contact Lens Precaution: The preservative benzalkonium chloride in Alphagan P (brimonidine) can be absorbed by soft contact lenses, leading to damage. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before applying the medication and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
