  • Severe Skin and Allergic Reactions: If you have a sulfa allergy or are taking Isentress (raltegravir) with Prezista (darunavir) and ritonavir (Norvir), you may experience skin rashes. While mild to moderate rashes typically resolve themselves, report them to your provider. For severe rashes or if symptoms worsen, such as fever, discomfort, muscle or joint pain, mouth sores, blisters, or facial swelling, discontinue use and seek medical attention immediately.

  • Body Fat Changes: Some individuals have noticed changes in body fat distribution when taking HIV medications like Prezista (darunavir). This may involve fat accumulation in certain areas or fat loss from the limbs and face. The cause and long-term health effects are unclear. Report any such changes to your healthcare provider.

  • Overactive Immune System: Combining Prezista (darunavir) with other HIV therapies can lead to immune reconstitution syndrome, where the immune system becomes overly active. This may manifest as new symptoms like fever, pain, hair loss, bulging eyes, or increased sweating. Notify your provider if these occur, as it can happen early in treatment or much later.
