Uro-mp Warnings
The safety information below outlines important considerations when using Uribel Tabs. Please read through carefully and discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider.
Mental and Emotional Effects: Uribel Tabs may lead to agitation, drowsiness, or confusion, particularly in older adults (aged 65 and above). If these symptoms become troubling, contact your healthcare provider.
Drug Interactions: If you are taking medications that increase serotonin levels, such as fluoxetine (Prozac), inform your healthcare provider before starting Uribel Tabs. This medication contains methylene blue, which can interfere with serotonin breakdown, potentially leading to serotonin syndrome. Symptoms include confusion, muscle twitching, shaking, and diarrhea.
Allergic Reactions: Avoid Uribel Tabs if you have a history of allergies to belladonna alkaloids (e.g., atropine and scopolamine) or salicylates (e.g., aspirin). Notify your prescriber of any past allergic reactions to these substances.
Digestive Concerns: Uribel Tabs may slow digestion, which can be problematic for individuals with stomach ulcers. Please inform your healthcare provider if you are undergoing treatment for a stomach ulcer before using this medication.
Long-term Use: The safety of prolonged use of Uribel Tabs remains uncertain. It is crucial to evaluate the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider when considering long-term use.
In case of any adverse reactions or overdose, contact your healthcare provider immediately for guidance.
Uro-mp Side Effects
When taking this medication, you may experience some common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, and constipation. These effects are generally mild but if they persist or worsen, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider. A unique side effect of this medication is the harmless blue-green discoloration of urine or stools, which will resolve once the medication is discontinued.
More serious side effects, though rare, should not be ignored. If you notice hot, dry, flushed skin, eye pain, or difficulty with urination, these may indicate more serious conditions and should prompt a consultation with a healthcare professional. Additionally, signs of kidney issues such as changes in urination or painful urination require immediate attention.
In very rare cases, this medication can cause severe side effects like easy bruising, black or tarry stools, severe abdominal pain, or vomit resembling coffee grounds, which may suggest internal bleeding or liver problems. Hypertensive crisis, a potentially fatal condition, can manifest as a severe headache, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, or vision changes and requires urgent medical intervention.
Allergic reactions, although uncommon, are serious and necessitate immediate medical help if symptoms like rash, severe dizziness, swelling, or breathing difficulties occur. Always consult a healthcare professional if you experience side effects not listed here.
Uro-mp Interactions
This medication can interact with a wide range of other products and medications. Some of these include apraclonidine, atomoxetine, bupropion, carbamazepine, dichlorphenamide, methotrexate, mifepristone, potassium supplements, pramlintide, tetrabenazine, certain drugs for Parkinson's disease (like entacapone, levodopa, tolcapone), some high blood pressure medications (such as guanethidine, methyldopa), sulfonamide drugs (including sulfa antibiotics like sulfamethoxazole), sympathomimetics (such as amphetamine and ephedrine), and products that reduce urine acidity (like antacids, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium/sodium citrate).
This medication might increase bleeding risk when combined with other drugs that also carry this risk, such as anti-platelet medications like clopidogrel, and anticoagulants such as dabigatran, enoxaparin, and warfarin.
It is crucial to avoid taking other MAO inhibitors alongside this medication due to the risk of a severe, potentially fatal interaction. Some MAO inhibitors to avoid include isocarboxazid, linezolid, metaxalone, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, safinamide, selegiline, and tranylcypromine. Most MAO inhibitors should not be taken for two weeks before and after using this medication. Consult your doctor to determine the appropriate timing for starting or stopping this medication.
Inform your healthcare provider if you are using other drugs that may cause extremely high blood pressure when combined with this medication. These include herbal products like ephedra or ma huang, nasal decongestants such as phenylephrine and pseudoephedrine, stimulants like amphetamines, ephedrine, and epinephrine, and certain diet aids. This medication should not be used with these substances.
If you are also taking azole antifungal medications (such as itraconazole or ketoconazole), it is advised to take this product at least 2 hours after the antifungal.
Carefully review the labels on all your prescription and non-prescription medications, as many contain pain relievers or fever reducers (like aspirin or NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, ketorolac, or naproxen). These can increase the risk of side effects when taken with this medication. If your doctor has advised you to take low-dose aspirin for heart attack or stroke prevention, continue taking it unless directed otherwise by your doctor.
Notify your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other products that may cause drowsiness, such as alcohol, marijuana (cannabis), antihistamines (like cetirizine and diphenhydramine), sleep or anxiety medications (such as alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants, and opioid pain relievers (like codeine).
Review the labels on all your medications, including those for allergies or cough-and-cold, as they may contain ingredients that cause drowsiness. Consult your pharmacist on how to safely use these products.
Finally, this medication can interfere with certain laboratory tests, potentially causing false results. Ensure that all your healthcare providers and lab personnel are aware that you are using this medication.
