Naratriptan is a medication designed to treat migraine attacks, with or without aura, in adults. It provides relief from headache pain and other migraine symptoms such as sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and vomiting. Early treatment can help you return to your daily activities more quickly and may reduce the need for additional pain medication. Naratriptan belongs to the triptan class of drugs, which work by targeting receptors in the brain that respond to serotonin, a natural chemical. This action helps constrict blood vessels in the brain and may block certain pain pathways. Although Naratriptan is effective in alleviating migraine symptoms, it does not prevent future migraines or reduce their frequency. The medication is taken orally, usually as a single dose, but a second dose can be taken four hours later if needed.
